Full articles and AI summaries

Plenty of RSS feeds carry only the headline and two lines. The rest sits on the publisher's site, and you end up with ten tabs open to read five stories. MediaHeat / Reader has two buttons for that: Full article, which brings the whole text into the reader, and AI summary, which tells you in three points what the story is about.

Full article

On a story, tap Full article. Reader fetches the text from the publisher's page and shows it inside the reader, with the source's name and a link to the original. You can then switch between the full article and what came in the feed.

  • Sometimes the fetch takes a while: you'll see "Fetching full article…" and can move on to another story. The result is saved.
  • Paywalled pages stay closed. Reader does not get around subscriptions or logins; read those on the publisher's site.
  • Not every story has the button. When a fetch isn't possible, Reader says so.

AI summary

Tap AI summary and Reader gives you three short points about the article, in the language you use Reader in (English or Portuguese). The summary is always marked as AI-generated text and never scores or rates the story.

  • The summary works from the article text. When the feed carries only a short excerpt, under about 500 words, Reader fetches the full article first, and that fetch counts toward your full-article limit.
  • On very long pieces, the summary covers the first 12,000 characters, about 2,000 words.
  • It's a summary for deciding whether to read now. Check the text before you quote anything.

Both limits renew on the 5th of each month at midnight, São Paulo time. Opening an article that was already loaded doesn't count, and neither does reopening a summary. There is also a daily summary limit; if you see "You reached the daily summary limit", try again the next day.

Premium costs US$ 3.99 a month, or R$ 14.90 in Brazil, and only raises the limits: both features are on both plans.
