The month thesis
September transformed the AI race into a capital market: Anthropic built up cash for a public offering, OpenAI accelerated advertising on its way to an IPO, and Nvidia emerged as both financier and guarantor of an entire chain of companies. SoftBank and Mistral also raised funds, while Intel/AMD, Amazon/AWS, and Oracle translated the expansion into chips, infrastructure, and reorganization. Capital stopped being background: it became the way to buy time, capacity, and dependence.
The product race ran in parallel with the trust race. Alibaba/Qwen, Huawei, and DeepSeek responded to Nvidia with their own chips and tools; Google/Alphabet and Amazon/AWS expanded robotaxis, and SpaceX/xAI/Cursor pushed Grok toward cheaper plans and more users.
